Second Stage Theater Company

In 1984 the Second Stage Theater Company made the former small theater known as the McGinn/Cazale its permanent home. The company now has an established reputation for producing new American drama and giving emerging authors their off-Broadway debuts. The 108-seat theater has excellent sightlines.

Thorsten participated in a celebrity benefit bowling event for Second Stage in 1996. Following are two accounts of the event from Soap Opera Magazine.

Thorsten at the All Star Bowling Classic When Thorsten Kaye (Patrick) appeared at a benefit recently, he didn't know he'd get the opportunity to fulfill a wish of his own. "I was on a team with Crystal (Chappell, Maggie) at a bowling event for the Second Stage Theater group," Thorsten says. "Over in the next lane was movie actress Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio. I'd never met her and I've always wanted to," he adds, "so I went over and told her that I was, in fact, her Robin Hood (referring to Mary Elizabeth's role as Marian in the Kevin Costner Robin Hood film). She asked if I'd ever played Robin, and I told her I hadn't, but then I added, 'I should have played it with you,'" Thorsten recalls with a grin. "She's a very good actress and a lovely woman."

You won't find Crystal Chappell (Maggie) knocking down pins at the local bowling alley, but she was thrilled to participate in New York's Ninth Annual Second Stage Theater Bowl With the Stars Benefit. Crystal - who bowls "about once every two years" - was joined by boyfriend Michael Sabatino (Jonathan, AMC), OLTL castmates Thorsten Kaye (Patrick) and Gina Tognoni (Kelly) and movie stars Kevin Bacon, Jerry Orbach, Carol Kane, Marsha Mason and Sam Waterston. The evening began with a tournament for the stars - and an awards ceremony. After a buffet dinner, everyone was invited to a moonlight bowl for prizes. "We all did very well," says Crystal. "It was wonderful to see all the stars there. I actually to meet Marsha Mason!"
